- The Meniscus Educational Institute (MEI) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a 6-year term of "Accreditation with Commendation for Excellence" as a provider of continuing medical education (CME) for physicians by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). ACCME accreditation provides assurance to physicians and patients that CME activities meet specific standards for quality CME
set by the member organizations of the ACCME, which include the American Medical Association and the American Board of Medical Specialties. Six-year accreditation is the highest accreditation awarded by the ACCME and, according to Harleigh E. Willmott, PhD, Vice President of Programming and Educational Development at MEI, "an honor that we could not have achieved without our dedicated staff and nationally renowned Medical Education Advisory Committee." The strength of MEI's programs lies in their clinical foundation, "with over 60 years of combined clinical experience, MEI's in-house physician and nursing staff are able to incorporate the principles of adult learning into medical educational activities that can be easily integrated into clinical practice," reports Letitia A. O'Kicki, MD, Medical Director of MEI.
MEI was recently awarded a 4-year accreditation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (ANCC), the California Board of Registered Nurses (Provider 13164), and is also recognized as an accredited provider by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
Founded in 1982, MEI collaborates with health care communities, foundations, and organizations to connect physicians, nurses, and pharmacists to state-of-the-art information about clinically relevant professional practice issues, making learning more meaningful. MEI provides high-quality, award-winning continuing education activities free of charge, designed to help clinicians improve patient care, at www.meniscus.com.
