2008-07-30 23:49:21 - NAFA will offer the Canadian Fleet Management Seminar in both French and English for the first time, September 14-16, 2008.

For the first time, NAFA will offer the Canadian Fleet Management Seminar in both English and French instruction. The seminar, which will be offered September 14-16, 2008 at the Four Points by Sheraton Montreal Centre-Villein in Montreal, Quebec, provides an intensive review of the nuts and bolts of what it takes to run a fleet management department. Designed to meet

the diverse, changing needs of fleet managers, this classroom environment and training session addresses concerns pertinent to the Canadian fleet manager. The last Canadian Fleet Management Seminar, held in Toronto in June 2006, was a huge success and attracted fleet professionals from all across Canada and the United States.

Seminars are scheduled to be offered on a bi-annual basis. Topics will include: policies and procedures; acquisition and disposal; fleet organization and responsibilities; maintenance management and risk management.

According to Julie Furlotte, CAFM, NAFA Vice President of Canada, the NAFA Canadian Fleet Management Seminar is the start of providing services to the Association's French speaking members in Canada. 'We hope to be able to offer more and more educational products in French to our French speaking members and we view the Fleet Management Seminar as the first step towards that goal,' said Furlotte. 'Ultimately, we'd love to see the Certified Automotive Fleet Management program offered in French as well.'

The NAFA Canadian Fleet Management Seminar is designed for fleet managers with three years or less experience; seasoned professionals looking for a refresher course; assistants to fleet managers and administrators; finance or purchasing directors; safety and/or risk department supervisors; in-house maintenance facility managers and CAFM participants. Attendees who are currently enrolled in the CAFM program may take their CAFM exams immediately following the seminar on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the Four Points by Sheraton Montreal Centre-Villein in Montreal, Quebec.

Participants will leave with their own binder of materials containing over 400 pages including printouts of presentation slides, sample forms on policy and procedure, valuable charts to help with lifecycle cost analysis, informative articles and lists of terminology. This compilation, along with the participant's own notes from the seminar, will create a powerful reference and learning tool to be used over and over again.
