Mitchel Orr, 949-251-1800 x124 mitchel.orr@pacificpower.com www.pacificpower.com Pacific Power Source, Inc. presents Version 1.3 of its UPC Studio Software. Already recognized as a well-tested tool for gaining exceptional control of UPC-equipped AC Power Sources, UPC Studio Software proves particularly versatile in its latest version by incorporating a new and unique
Test Manager feature.
Test Manager helps the user quickly create and run Test Sequences and Test Plans. Test Sequences consist of one or more Output Sequences designed to execute a series of automated tasks that control and monitor the AC Power Source and other instruments. Test results are then stored in user-defined test reports. Test Plans manage and simplify complex tasks by allowing the user to link together a series of Test Sequences into a single test.
"This new version of UPC Studio Software redefines AC Power Testing by placing the tools necessary to control all aspects of an AC Power Test System in the test engineers' hands," said Mitchel Orr of Pacific Power Source, Inc. "With Test Manager, you can tie together Output Sequences with prompts, user controls, Visual Basic scripts, meter controls and more. It stands out from other software options in the market by providing the operator full control and definability of complete Test Plans and reports versus just controlling the AC Power Source. In short, it saves time and money by providing the test engineer with a method of quickly and easily generating complete test routines."
Pacific Power's UPC Studio delivers a complete, graphical interface for the AC Power Source. It includes safeguards to protect the Equipment Under Test (EUT) and guides the user into entering values appropriate for the power source. In addition to controlling the AC Power Source and monitoring the output, UPC Studio can be used to generate and view "offline" simulation files. This detailed view provides the ability to observe the steady-state waveform and programmed transient before power is applied to the EUT.
With Test Manager, the user can automate instrument compliance testing and certification as well as obtain pre-configured Test Sequences and Test Plans from Pacific Power Source. Typical Test Sequences include DO-160 and MIL-STD-704 for avionics compliance testing.
These new Test Manager features serve to complement the level of control enjoyed in the previous version of UPC Studio. The detailed Waveform Editor, the ability to measure and graph voltage and current harmonics to customer-specified limits, and the precise control of Transients within Output Sequences still remain powerful and essential tools in the test engineers' arsenal.
UPC Studio, Control and Manager are just a few of the utilities included in Pacific Power Source's UPC Suite of software programs. For simpler applications, UPC Interactive and associated LabView(TM) libraries are provided to facilitate incorporating UPC (Universal Programmable Controller) commands and control into the customer's own LabView(TM) source code.
UPC Studio including UPC Control and UPC Manager with Output Sequence Browser is free to customers with registration. Test Manager is currently $1,750, with factory- written test sequences starting at $500.
