Scott Sunshine/Jemile Dragovic 212-354-5020 ssunshine@middlebergcommunications.com jdragovic@middlebergcommunications.com Brinker Capital, Inc., a leading investment management firm, today announced that its assets under management have surpassed the $10 billion threshold. Brinker Capital, Inc. announced last month that it had posted Q1 asset inflows of $712 million, the largest in the company's history.
"This is a very proud moment for everyone at Brinker Capital who has worked so hard to achieve this milestone, and for the many thousands of advisors who came to appreciate and believe in our unique approach to the managed account business," said Charles "Chuck" Widger, founder, CEO and Chairman of Brinker Capital. "What makes me especially proud is that our growth has been entirely organic, something that remains quite unusual in the asset management business."
Brinker Through the Years
Fifteen years ago, Charles "Chuck" Widger led a group of eight colleagues to buy themselves and their managed accounts business out of their larger financial services employer. With a dozen or so accounts, a single Denver-based competitor, and a vision of what the SMA business could become, Brinker Capital was born. Its vision, then, was to provide institutional-quality investment management services to investors through financial advisors. This vision continues to guide Brinker Capital today. The company has since grown its product line to include a managed mutual fund program, Unified Management Accounts, 401(k) retirement plan services, and relationships with more than 2,750 financial advisors at more than 200 financial institutions that participate in or distribute its products.
Brinker Capital has also fostered growth in the money management business and related service sectors. "We've helped to incubate and foster the growth of many regional money managers who got their start by meeting the standards required to earn a place on our platform," Widger says. "We've also launched ideas such as fee-based clearing that not only spawned new firms but changed the business models at traditional clearing firms."
Recently, Brinker Capital announced the launch of a Practice Management Institute designed to help advisors run more efficient, profitable businesses.
