2008-04-26 08:40:22 - When her solo album sold a slender 50,000 copies, Victoria Beckham decided to put her singing career on hold to work on her other projects, like her designer jeans line.

But she's going to need more than girl power to sell some denim, according to The Daily Mail. Jeans from her dVb line, the same ones that were hawked for upwards of $290 at expensive boutiques last year, are now being sold for under $70 in bargain stores like Loehmann's.

She partnered with the high-end denim brand Rock & Republic in

2004 to design a popular limited-edition line called VB Rocks. Those items went for $250-$300, and often sold out at high end stores.

Despite her experience with Rock & Republic, some fashion industry insiders have criticized her new label, saying she used cheap fabrics.

Robert de Keyser, owner of distributor Dekeyser Fashions, told the Daily Mail, "The new Beckham range appears to be seriously overpriced for a line which is made, unlike other premium denims, in China out of a cheap fabric. Whatever Victoria learned about denim from working with Rock & Republic appears to have been lost."

Despite this setback, Posh isn't exactly strapped for cash. She and the other Spice girls were reportedly paid $20 million each for last year's reunion tour. They were also contracted to appear in Tesco ads, which earned them $2 million each.
